Tom Hanks Is A Standing Man In New Bridge Of Spies Trailer
With so much impeccable talent behind and in front of the camera – the movie also boasts the Coen Brothers as screenwriters and Spielberg’s longtime collaborator Janusz Kamiński as cinematographer – “Bridge of Spies” looks to be quite the Oscar power player, and the latest trailer only heightens these claims.
Steven Spielberg will soon release the Tom Hanks-lead political drama Bridge of Spies. While we’ll have an early review thanks to a world premiere at the New York Film Festival, today brings a pair of brief new trailers for the Bridge of Spies, whichcomes from a script by Matt Charman as well as Ethan and Joel Coen. Abel is the man who calls Donovan the “Standing Man” because Donovan reminds him of his father’s friend. Based on true events, Bridge of Spies unfolds during the Cold War, as a Brooklyn lawyer (Hanks) is tasked with defending a KGB spy (Mark Rylance) – and then with negotiating to trade him with the Soviet Union a captured American U-2 pilot.
“I thought Tom was the obvious choice to play Donovan”, Spielberg continued. “Tom’s own morality and his own sense of equality and fairness, and the fact that Tom does such good things in the world, by using, wisely, his celebrity and intelligence and points of view – he has so many of them – that I thought it was a good fit to play Donovan”. Catch both new trailers below.
Bridge of Spies opens October 16th.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film stars Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance, Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch, Alan Alda, Austin Stowell, Mikhail Gorevoy and Will Rogers.
