Tom Hardy thanks Leonardo DiCaprio for Revenant role
Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. Leo plays legendary explorer Hugh Glass, who is brutally mauled by a bear and left for dead by his own hunting team.
It is the second time Leo and Hardy have co-starred in a film, after 2010′s Inception.
“I know he would never bury me alone and leave me out in the cold like that”, he said.
DiCaprio’s recent award for “The Revenant” marks his third best actor gold in the Golden Globes, his other two awards being in “The Aviator” and “The Wolf of Wall Street”.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1, DiCaprio explained how his close connection to the films he makes means it can be hard for him to decide if it’s worthy of the honour at the time.
The duo wrapped up warm for the chilly red carpet in Leicester Square, alongside director Alejandro Inarritu, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, who all discussed the film’s incredible 12 Oscar nominations.
The premiere will take place just a few hours after the Oscar nominations are announced, with the film – and its star DiCaprio – widely expected to pick up nods in several categories. However, some fans are anxious that, if Leo does win the Best Actor Oscar, then he will stop taking on such fascinating projects and will instead go for much more fun roles.
