Tom Holland visits children’s hospital in Spider-Man costume
Spider-Man Homecoming will star Tom Holland and feature a high school age Peter Parker. But while we’ve got a pretty good idea at this point of which actors are in Spider-Man: Homecoming, we know a lot less about what they’re doing in it.
Shooting is underway now on Homecoming, though the flick doesn’t actually open for another 11 months or so.
As to why Marvel, Sony and director Jon Watts have been so secretive about Zendaya playing Mary Jane…well, that probably has something to do with the casting, unfortunately.
Homecoming cast Disney Channel star Zendaya in a “key role”, but there were few details given about what that role could be. Shailene Woodley was cast in the role for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, although her sequence was ultimately cut from the film. What’s not clear is whether or not Mary Jane will be the love interest of Peter Parker in the movie.
The character was played by Kirsten Dunst in the first Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the title superhero.
TheWrap reports that “two individuals with knowledge of the project” reached out to the publication about Zendaya’s role. We’ve been wondering, and we’ve been waiting, but apparently that wait may in fact be over.
