Tom Jones Reveals Wife’s Depression Battle
Sir Tom Jones has opened up about his “solid” 58-year marriage to wife Linda, and spoken candidly about her battle with depression.
The 75 year-old complained that while he takes pride in his appearance and buys expensive clothes, his wife has stopped making an effort. He stated: “I’ve realised she’s had a depression since she was young, she’s always had a touch of it”. Despite numerous extra-marital affairs Sir Tom’s wife Linda, has stood by her husband, only once apparently hitting him in response to reading about his infidelity in a newspaper.
“I said, “I don’t give a f**k”, Jones told about his reaction when his son and manager Mark Woodward informed him of the BBC’s decision.
Tom has been replaced by Culture Club singer Boy George for the upcoming fifth season, which is due to air in January (16) with returning judges will.i.am and Kaiser Chiefs rocker Ricky Wilson.
Nearly two months on from his shock exit, the veteran singer is releasing his autobiography which also packs some punches in its discussion of the Beeb.
“I don’t think she really enjoyed getting out and about, and I think she was happy with being in the house”. “All the rest is fun and games”.
“That was sad for him, but I’m sure Tom Jones has got a lot of other things he can be doing because he is a national treasure and a legend”.
