Tom Selleck stealing water for Calif. avocado ranch?
According to the Los Angeles Times, Selleck has filled trucks with water from a hydrant in the district and had them delivered to his house on at least 12 occasions since 2013.
In a recent report from news.com.au, apparently these water regulatory measures have not been thoroughly implemented as it was reported that Tom Selleck has been accused of illegally filling up a commercial water twelve times to irrigate his avocado farm and ranch located in the Hidden Valley.
The complaint added the location of the water hydrant was in a different area than the water district that serves the actor’s ranch.
The water district claimed Selleck’s “wrongful conduct” forced it to pay $21,685.55 to a private investigator to document the theft.
The district said it sent Selleck a cease-and-desist order in November 2013, warning it would take legal action if he did not stop taking the water.
Eric Bergh, manager of resources for Calleguas, said it has “a longstanding policy of no delivery or use of district water outside of district boundaries”.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department also investigated and was unable to establish that a crime occurred.
There’s history here too-at the end of the last drought in CA in 2009, Selleck and five other residents actually had permission to fill up water trucks from a hydrant in nearby Lake Sherwood.
“Our 630,000 customers are ripping out their lawns, drastically cutting back on the water they use”.
A representative for the Ventura County Superior Court said the complaint was not immediately available for public release.
TV cop Tom Selleck may or may not have improperly swiped precious water by the magnum, but he didn’t commit a crime, real California cops told NBC News on Wednesday. The area where Selleck has his land is under mandatory cutbacks as high as 36 percent. As the historic drought continues, however, it becomes more and more obvious who is getting access to water and who is not. According to court filings, that stolen water went straight onto Selleck’s Westlake Village ranch dotted with avocado trees.
