Tomlin burns Bengals, says Porter never got game ball
Marshall, the Jets receiver and an “Inside the NFL” regular, pressed Jones, the Bengals cornerback, on a number of topics connected to that chaotic finish of last weekend’s Steelers-Bengals playoff game.
Now, according to a report from ESPN, Jones says he’ll apologize if Brown misses the Steelers’ Divisional Round game against the Denver Broncos.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (7) is sacked by Cincinnati Bengals’ Vontaze Burfict (55) during the second half of an NFL wild-card playoff football game Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, in Cincinnati.
How Roethlisberger’s shoulder improves throughout the week will determine if he’s able to play on Sunday.
Steelers’ Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Roethlisberger has “a chance” of playing, but that Landry Jones will get the majority of the reps at quarterback early in the week. So I definitely felt like I was shortening up my motion up a little bit, which is why we threw some screens, and couldn’t really get the ball down the field … That, along with a subsequent unsportsmanlike conduct call on Jones, put the Steelers in position to kick the game-winning field goal.
This hit on Antonio Brown landed him in the NFL’s concussion protocol. The silver lining is that running back DeAngelo Williams might be ready to return after missing the Bengals game, but the run game was not an issue in that one.
Tomlin added: “This is what I’m gonna do about all of that so that we can move on”. “Cincinnati is afforded the opportunity days after the game to rehash what happened”.
“I think he was just trying to make a play”, Roethlisberger said. We’re not afforded that opportunity.
