Tony McDaniel heads to Tampa
Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $50.25 million on Sunday, according to sources.
The $10.05 million average money in the new deal means that David will be the highest-paid 4-3 linebacker in football and the fifth-highest paid linebacker overall, behind only Justin Houston, Clay Matthews, Ryan Kerrigan and Bobby Wagner.
Since entering the league, David’s 319 solo tackles are the most in the NFL, while his 429 total tackles rank second. He was also named a first-team All-Pro in 2013, despite not making the Pro Bowl.
“George was doing what he does and tempers started to get a little flared up”, Dotson said.
Despite missing two games in 2014, David led the Buccaneers with 146 tackles.
“So Lavonte signs the deal, we do our bro hugs and all that, and we ask him if he could stay for a couple minutes and take a few pictures”. Obviously, if you’re winning, people will look at the things that you’ve done, so that’s what we want to do here. Even the Tampa Bay Times, the team’s hometown newspaper, admitted the women’s movement was moving women lash out against the Bucs.
“What we’re challenging him to do is make more impact plays”, the coach added.
“We are very excited to announce that Lavonte will be a Buccaneer for the long term”, said Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht.
McDaniel can make up to $2.5 million, which was the amount of his base salary in Seattle.
“We’ve talked about what Gerald brings to the table, but Lavonte can do it all”, Smith said.
The Alabama native somehow managed to be a dual-athlete in his two years at FSU whilst garnering all of that football success.
Lovie Smith, the head coach of the Bucs, called David the best outside linebacker in the game.
They would like to see more splash plays from David, who did not have an interception last season. He’s been the centerpiece of that defense, and now with this extension he’ll be the centerpiece going forward.
“He loved me“, Lynette said, tears streaming down her cheeks.
