Tony Romo will have CT scan on collarbone next week
The Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo are planning for the quarterback to have offseason surgery to plate his left collarbone in attempt to prevent future injuries, according to sources.
Romo told the media over the weekend, “I think we know which way we’re (leaning)”.
Romo, a four-time Pro-Bowler who threw for just 884 yards in four games last season, is scheduled to undergo a CT scan next week to verify if he is recovering as scheduled from a third break to his left clavicle, the team announced. He says that Romo plans to go under the knife to get this fixed finally. “Really it’s just about being there for your teammates”. He initially broke his collarbone in week 2 versus the Philadelphia Eagles and suffered a hairline fracture in week 12 versus the Carolina Panthers. Romo missed seven games before returning November 22, but he fractured the collarbone again on Thanksgiving.
The day after the 2015 season ended, Romo said he was looking at different options for his collarbone either through surgery or without an operation.
Tony Romo on Tom Brady, Peyton Manning showing QBs can play well in their late 30s: “There’s no question, I’ll be able to play for a while”. So he is trying to do anything possible to make sure that he stays on the field for all 16 games next season and surgery will help him achieve that goal.
The Cowboys quarterback has fractured his collarbone three times in the past five seasons, including twice this past season.
