Tony Stewart Sued by Ward Family in Racetrack Death
The fact of the matter is if Kevin Ward Jr. didn’t come down on the track that was active, Kevin Ward Jr. would be racing a sprint vehicle tomorrow night and Tony Stewart wouldn’t be replaying that tragedy everyday.
The lawsuit was filed as Stewart returns to Watkins Glen worldwide on the one-year anniversary of the fatal crash.
What the win from 2014 did do for the No. 47 team was create a bond among team members that holds strong this season.
Stewart, a three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, has struggled the past couple of seasons. It’s great when you get it right and it’s easy to get it wrong. A victory would guarantee him a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
But Watkins Glen is a specialty race and Stewart has won five previous times on the road course.
When asked by The Toronto Sun on Friday if he feels any extra pressure to repeat his win from last year and validate his status in NASCAR, Allmendinger said he could care less what anyone thinks. “I can’t believe anybody did that, but he did. Prior to that, his course was pretty straight”. “That was a crowning deal as far as road racing is concerned”.
Entering Watkins Glen, where Stewart has enjoyed five career-wins – more than any other track – should have been his best chance to get back on track.
Stewart was not initially charged for the death after police spent four weeks examining evidence on the case. It was something that we pursued heavily.
“Whether it’s pressure to make the Chase or win the race, it is no more pressure than what I add to myself”. He has funded rescues of greyhounds when their racing days are over. Though Gordon’s focus was clearly on the weekend’s race, the media had just as clearly in mind as shown through their questions the fact that this was the popular driver’s last competition at The Glen as a driver. “I don’t know – to me, always when I think of drivers that were really good they did well on the road courses”.
There is new information in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against NASCAR star Tony Stewart.
According to ESPN, New York law does not allow the Ward family to collect damages for their own pain and suffering but does allow parents to recover loss of expected future support and care that their child could have provided.
In 2013, Stewart was sidelined when the Cup tour rolled into New York’s Finger Lakes Region after breaking his right leg in a Sprint auto accident on August 5 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa.
Stewart was cleared last September by a grand jury investigating the dirt-track accident. Two drivers were fined and placed on probation in June for violating the rule during a race in Dover, DE.
It doesn’t help you continue to move forward with it. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same from what happened the last two years.
