Tooth Fairy gets cheap
How much is a lost tooth worth?
British Columbian children get the least amount of cash from the Tooth Fairy when they lose a tooth, according to a Visa Canada survey released Monday.
In total, kids can expect to earn about $64 for a mouthful of teeth during the entire process of upgrading to adult chompers, down about $10 in the last two years.
The Tooth Fairy has officially revealed the going rate for a baby tooth in Canada.
The national average is $3.44 per lost tooth, which comes out to $68.80 for the piggy bank from a full set of 20 little pearly whites.
Launched as a companion to Visa’s online Tooth Fairy Calculator, the new Tooth Fairy Apple iOS App allows prospective Tooth Fairies to enter demographic information including gender, education, province, age, and household income, to determine how much money other Canadians with similar stats are distributing for teeth.
Twenty percent said the tooth fairy leaves $5. “It’s a fun and helpful glimpse at next door, or thousands of miles away”.

In the Northeast, 1 in 4 children got $5 or more, and around 1 in 13 got $20 or more, making the average in the Northeast $3.56.
