Top ‘Hamilton’ premium ticket pushed to record $849

For fans who have been unable to see the show, CBS says of Sunday’s broadcast, “It could be their last chance to see Lin-Manuel Miranda, the show’s creator, acting in the title role”.

Renowned producer Cameron Mackintosh is spending £30 million refurbishing the theatre ready for the production, according to Daily Mail theatre critic Baz Bamigboye, with tickets going on sale this October.

“Hamilton” is sold out through January 2017 but began a presale for select American Express cardholders for January 31 to May 21. Cate Blanchett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Steve Martin, Neil Patrick Harris, James Earl Jones and more big-name celebrities will present at the show. The popular musical dominated Tony nominations as well by being nominated in 16 different categories. Versions of “Hamilton” are also gearing up for a national tour and a spot in London.

Those in attendance at the Tony Awards will have seen this fate foretold, written upon the brows of the producers at the Public Theater, who were past year considering the flawless moment to move Hamilton to Broadway, knowing it would smash all in its path at the Tonys.

“Hamilton” is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of the life of the Founding Father. The video features Leslie Odom Jr. and the cast performing the Act 1 song that explores Aaron Burr’s inner conflict over Alexander Hamilton’s meteoric rise to prominence. Four years ago, he was accepting the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his turn in One Man, Two Guvnors, and now he’s running the show.

“Hamilton“, the hip-hop musical about the American Revolution, is not just reimagining USA history, it’s reimagining Broadway. But “Hamilton” is the heavy favorite because Miranda’s show became a pop-culture event. In an attempt to reduce the amount of tickets being resold online, they are now increasing prices – making seats in the center orchestra Broadway’s most expensive ticket at $849 – while doubling the number of low-cost seats available through its same-day lottery system.
