Top moments from Team USA’s run to the curling gold
Over the weekend, fans began pointing out that a 2010 episode also featured the US besting Sweden in curling to win an Olympic gold medal. Yet at that moment, it was hard to believe how close his dream in these Games had come to crumbling apart. “Im so proud I was able to do something similar”. But its men’s team settled for silver with a stunning upset by the US men on Saturday night.
John Shuster, along with teammates Tyler George, Matt Hamilton, John Landsteiner, and alternate Joe Polo then went on to win five consecutive matches while their home country was asleep on Saturday.
Shuster and co. pulled a huge comeback victory over Swedish skip Niklas Edin’s club at the Gangneung Curling Centre.
“During the entire end, I felt it building”, Shuster said.
The win was the start of something special in the PyeongChang Games, and also the start of Shuster’s redemption story after his disappointing finishes in the 2010 and 2014 Olympics.
South Korea entered the Olympics ranked eighth in the world and defeated every other team inside the top 10 during round robin and knockout plays here.
“Team Reject”, they called themselves.
The final of the women’s Curling tournament at the Olympics will be held February 25.
The “Garlic Girls” are in trouble in the curling match between South Korea and Sweden. And at the end of the day, The Simpsons is up to 629 episodes and counting.
With a Swedish rink in the final for the fourth consecutive Olympics, Hasselborg’s team played with cool confidence while the charismatic Korean four from a small garlic-growing county who had been thrust into the global spotlight, seemed to finally wilt under the vast pressure. Their journey was complete.
Friends and families of the curlers packed the gym, where banners proclaimed: “Let’s dig for gold with the same strength we dig for garlic!”
“I was happy to get a chance to make that last one for these guys for all the shots they made throughout the course of these games”.
But when the Americans looked at the medals draped around their necks, there was a problem: They had been given the ones engraved for the women’s winners.
