Top Senate Intel Dem: ‘Grave Concerns’ About Independence Of Russia Probe
The way the progressive left runs is that if they can’t get it passed, they’re just going to put it in some sort of regulation in a-in an agency.
“I have seen the press reports suggesting that the White House enlisted senior members of the intelligence community and Congress to counter allegations regarding issues that are now under SSCI investigation”, Warner wrote in a statement. The White House claimed Deputy Director Andrew McCabe initiated the contact with Priebus, telling him the New York Times report about “repeated” contact between Russian officials and the Trump campaign had been exaggerated.
The administration officials said Priebus asked if he could say that the story had been knocked down by top intelligence officials.
Trump and his team members deny having had contacts with Russian officials during the presidential campaign.Last week, Trump said “nobody that I now of” talked to Russian intelligence service officials.
Former CIA director John Brennan, who also served as a counterterrorism adviser in the Obama White House, said Mr. Priebus’ request was out of the ordinary.
But the contact raises concerns about the White House possibly meddling in an ongoing law enforcement investigation.
The top Democrat on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence says he has “grave concerns” about the independence of an investigation into President Trump’s aides’ ties to Russian Federation.
Yet she then said the bathroom rule was a “very huge example” of the previous administration’s “top-down approach to issues that are best dealt with and solved at a personal level and local level”.
Still, it is unusual for a White House chief of staff to make such a request of the bureau.
“I think the real easy answer here is that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has already said this story is B.S.”, Ms. Sanders said in a statement Sunday. “It got us out of a trade deal and let our sovereignty come back to ourselves”, he said, referring to the massive Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.
“We need a complete investigation and we certainly don’t want the White House at all trying to influence that investigation”.
The White House officials would only discuss the matter on the condition of anonymity.
White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon will be interviewed together by American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp, whose organization sponsors the annual conservative confab.
Spicer later briefed some reporters on the record.
Despite being Trump’s most prominent supporter in Congress during the campaign, Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t yet recused himself from the election meddling case. US intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation meddled in the campaign in an effort to help Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton. Trump has said he is not aware of such contacts.
According to senior officials, following an unrelated meeting last week, McCabe privately told Priebus that the story was inaccurate.
The FBI has not commented on the matter yet. “We asked them to tell the truth”, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told CNN late Thursday night, objecting to CNN’s characterization of the White House’s request.
According to Bannon a “new political order” is being formed.
