Tornado strikes Central California town, damages homes

The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado did indeed touch down in Denair Sunday afternoon.
Sheriff’s stated that the tornado traveled down Zeering Road, and “headed east out of town”. The sheriff’s department does not have an official number yet on how many buildings were damaged. In Stanislaus County, several witnesses say a tornado touched down in Denair, bringing down tree limbs and ripping into homes.
The NWS Sacramento tweeted it will survey the area Monday to estimate the strength of the tornado.
No injuries due to the tornado have been reported.
Authorities said a tornado struck a Central California town, causing damage to a few structures and knocking down trees and power lines.
The Turlock Irrigation District reported power was knocked out in certain parts of Denair. Showers and food will be available for residents.
The unusual weather comes as Northern California experiences a storm system for the third Sunday in a row.
