Toronto Wins 5-1, Forces Game 4
The American League Division Series between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays may not be halfway complete yet, but there’s really no question as to who the most valuable player is. “If we were up 2-0 or down 0-2, like we are, it’s the same mentally for me”.
The match is in Global Life Park and will be on October 12, 2015 at 4:07 PM ET. Dickey said the climate reacts “favorably” to the knuckleball.
And so, we move on to Game 4 tomorrow. Look at Kevin Pillar, for instance. “Not lose, first of all”. Going into the series we’ve seen him on the highlights, he’s got a lot of sock in his bat.
“Good enough to go, good enough to play and tons of treatment, to be honest with you”, Tulowitzki said in the post-game press conference when asked about his health. “Just go out and play the game”.
Edinson Volquez throws for the Royals, facing George Springer for the first time since Volquez broke Springer’s right wrist by hitting him with a pitch on July 1.
“You can never count Adrian out of anything, and where I think he is right now is probably irrelevant”.
The following inning, a home run from Jose Bautista made it a 4-3 game after crushing the ball 435 feet in left center. “We still have an opportunity to win this series”.
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki snapped out of a postseason slump with a three-run home run to keep his team alive with a 5-1 win against the Texas Rangers. Tepera had a 3.27 earned run average in 32 appearances with Toronto this season. Over the past month, he owns a 2.84 ERA in five starts.
Estrada quietly led the majors by holding opponents to hitting. He watched intently as fellow southpaws Cole Hamels and Martin Perez started in this series, looking to pick things up in case he was called upon.
The Blue Jays had their leadoff hitter at second base to start each the third through fifth innings, a span that included the double plays started by Odor, whose grounder in the seventh produced the only Texas run.
“They check for concussions, and apparently he passed all the tests”.
“I haven’t been swinging the bat the greatest”, Tulowitzki said. “I’ve heard that to this point everything went well”. Donaldson almost had a second homer on Friday when hit a long foul in the 13th inning against RHP Keone Kela, then the two exchanged words causing both benches to empty. Donaldson eventually struck out. He does it with a signature 79-m.p.h. changeup that makes his cutter, four-seam fastball and curveball all the more hard to hit. He left Thursday after fouling out in the eighth inning because of a hamstring cramp.
“Tulo needed that, he really did”, said Gibbons. Gonzalez entered the game and allowed a walk before getting Chris Colabello to ground into a home-to-first double play. Estrada, a former All-Western State Conference selection, also retired the side in order in the second and fourth innings. “He’s got a pretty significant tear in his calf, so that’s not good”, manager John Gibbons said.
Hopefully the Blue Jays have as easy a time finding the answer to Perez today as it will be to find the link.
The Rangers still lead the series 2-1 with the fourth game scheduled for Monday in Arlington.
Estrada finished his night by allowing one run on five hits (four singles) in 6 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking one. Hanser Alberto is starting at third base. “That’s basically how I took it today”. Up 2-0, the Rangers offense was doing a whole bunch of nothing against Toronto’s Marco Estrada.
While doctors have given him no timeline for his return, Cecil said he would not need surgery and would be ready for spring training. In an effort to remain in the series, Beltre had a cortisone shot. He was shut down for the rest of the season in mid-August.
