Toshiba’s Chromebook 2 gets a Broadwell makeover
Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the successor to its award-winning Chromebook 2.
Display wise, the Chromebook 2 comes with a 13.3-inch, 1080P IPS panel, though as TechReport points out this is bundled inside a 12 inch notebook chassis. There you have it, Toshiba has revealed their new Chromebooks, it’s up to other OEMs to follow soon, if I’m note mistaken Lenovo is expected to unveil something soon as well, stay tuned.
Connectivity spans the range most users require, including an SD card slot, security lock, a single USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, and 802.11ac WiFi. The new iteration of the laptop will come in two models: one will have a 5th Gen Intel Core i3 processor, and the other will come with an Intel Celeron processor. There’s also an integrated dual-array microphones and an HD webcam. This updated Chromebook maintains most of the original machines’ specs, but buyers can now choose among Broadwell Celeron and Core i3 CPUs, along with a 4GB RAM option.
That being said, the company has chose upgrade and release the new Chromebook 2 (2015) read on. Interesting enough, Toshiba’s new Chromebook also sports a backlit keyboard, which is always a welcomed addition.
With an 8.5-hour battery life rating on both models, customers will be able to do more multitasking throughout the day, whether they are in the classroom, at the office or at home. As with other Chromebooks, the new machine comes with 100GB of Google Drive storage space; there’s also three months of unlimited Google Play music streaming, and a dozen passes to use GoGo’s Internet.
