Toshiba unveils Surface-like dynaPad, thinnest 12-inch Windows 10 tablet in
Considered the world’s thinnest and lightest hybrid, the dynaPad can serve as a laptop or a tablet and is only 6.9mm thin and weighing around 569g.
With the dynaPad keyboard dock attached, its height expands to 14.99mm (0.59 inches) and the weight is bumped up to 996 grams (2.2lb).
The Surface Pro 4 has been unveiled and it seems Microsoft’s partners are proving its success by all attempting to make similar devices.
Toshiba claims the DynaPad outdoes its Microsoft rival when it comes to on-screen scribbling, shipping with a Wacom Active Electrostatics TruPen. The screen is not only covered with an anti- reflection coating, it is also anti- fingerprint. Toshiba has outfitted the dynaPad with 64GB of flash storage, and a 128GB upgrade is available. The dynaPad is enforced with a metal mesh sensor technology which combines with a high-performance, high-precision TruPen with 2,048 levels of pressure.
Despite the fact that Toshiba’s dynaPad is less powerful than Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4, it is still one of the most promising digital 2-in-1 notebooks to hit the market.
According to the blog, the tablet, which is one of the products of a 30-year-strong partnership between the two companies, is “designed to replicate the natural feeling of writing with a pen on paper”.
Now Toshiba has shown its hand in the form of a 12-inch Windows 10 tablet that is coming to the United Kingdom early next year.
The Wacom stylus clips onto the side of the tablet.
The apps adapt to right- and left-handed users. It attaches using magnets and features 1.5mm of key travel to improve the accuracy of typing.
Specs-wise, the device sports a 1,920 x 1,280 IPS display and is powered by a 1.44GHz Atom processor.
The tablet comes with updated versions of Toshiba-exclusive business applications that let users to collect, organize and share notes, images and files.
At its Windows 10 device event on October 6, Microsoft attempted to set the bar for what a Windows 10 notebook should be with the debut of its Surface Book.
The device is available for pre-order in Japan today and is expected to begin shipping there in December, with United States and Europe availability due in the first quarter of 2016.
