Tottenham Boss Reacts Over Club’s 4-1 Triumph
According to Fox Sports, Tottenham’s win over City was a shock to the rest of the Premier League.
The final nail in the coffin came in the 79th minute as Erik Lamela skipped past Manchester City’s defender Martín Demichelis and goal-keeper Willy Caballero to score Tottenham’s fourth goal. City went 2-1 down to Juventus at home and will be playing Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany on a few days time.
Not the past. And I am sure that Manchester City will win the Champions League in the future because the whole club works well. “We’ve been fearless and I think what we have to do is learn from this opener and try to do better in the next game“.
Spurs are now in the same position, fifth, that they finished in the Premier League last season and if results can continue to impress could be knocking on the door of European football again come May.
Before their loss – a third in four games for Pellegrini’s men – City boasted a stellar record against Mauricio Pochettino’s team, having won eight of their last nine meetings with an aggregate of 28 goals scored to seven conceded.
Manchester City crashed to a heavy 1-4 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, who were in riveting form despite being dominated in the early exchanges of the first half.
“A lot of us played a year ago”. They have lost three of their last four games and, while not necessarily a cause for a full-scale inquisition, that is a justification for concern.
Pellegrini, however, is now trying to manage without the spine of his team as goalkeeper Joe Hart, centre-back Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure are out injured.
“Really, Tottenham only had one shot on our goal in the first 40 minutes and after that they scored that clear offside goal. We’ve got a young team, a very energetic team and we’re excited, we’re enjoying every moment and days like today will give us even more confidence”.
“We didn’t play very well against West Ham United in the first half and we didn’t play well now in the second half”, City manager Manuel Pellegrini told BT Sport.
Eric Dier drew parity on the stroke of half-time by hammering home at the end of a move started by the clearly offside Kyle Walker – a strike added to after the break by Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane’s first club goal in 748 minutes.
