Tottenham complete N’Jie signing
Clinton N’Jie completed his third season in the Lyon first-team set-up last term, netting eight goals in all competitions, and is just one of a number of striker targets Mauricio Pochettino has been tracking this summer.
“We’re delighted to announce the signing of Clinton Njie, subject to global clearance and work permit”, read a club statement.
Njie has signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane, and the Cameroon global has revealed that he is looking forward to the “big challenge” of competing in the Premier League.
Njie is Spurs’ fourth signing of the transfer window, following the arrivals of defenders Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld.
He told the club website: “I’m very happy to join Tottenham, such a big club in England”.
Njie, who can play wide or through the centre, has made 11 global appearances for Cameroon, scoring six goals.
Spurs, who lost 1-0 to Manchester United in their opening Premier League match of the season, only have Harry Kane as a recognised striker after selling the under-performing Roberto Soldado to Villarreal on Friday.
“I’ve always loved playing football and it’s always been my dream to play professional football so when I had my chance, I had to grab it”, he added.
