Tottenham Hotspur make move for Lyon forward Clinton N’Jie
Tottenham Hotspur appear to have failed with a fresh offer for Lyon striker Clinton Njie, a player Les Gones are hoping to keep hold of this summer.
According to sources at Sky Sports, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
The Argentinian told reporters: “I never speak about rumours”.
The Cameroon global can play either as a central striker or as a winger and Spurs believe his blistering pace would add a new dimension to Pochettino’s pool of attackers.
Mauricio Pochettino is desperately trying to offload Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, while Roberto Soldado’s future at the club is up in the air.
Metro reveal that the deal could be worth €15 million (£10.5m) for Njie but also suggest that a £7.5m offer from Spurs had previously been rejected by the French club – said report also links the player with Arsenal and Newcastle.
Erik Lamela was the sole attacking option Pochettino was able to name on the bench at Old Trafford on Saturday and a lack of support for Kane really showed over the course of the narrow loss.
Spurs then moved for Monaco’s Anthony Martial but were unable to persuade his current club into a sale and he subsequently extended his contract.
It’s easy to see why Spurs would want to make N’jie their most expensive signing of the season (so far).
Hernandez would cost around £10m and is keen on a switch to White Hart Lane, with an official bid understood to be imminent as Spurs rival West Ham for the Mexican, who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid.
