Tottenham issue Manchester United strong warning over Harry Kane
Chairman Daniel Levy has not changed his stance on Kane who has been a target for United for some time despite the Old Trafford club not yet making an official bid.
He has seen Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao leave the club this summer.
United have few strikers favoured by Louis van Gaal outside Wayne Rooney, and the manager suggested after Saturday’s win that he would like to bring in another.
Pochettino said: “Maybe Liverpool tried to find their Harry Kane but we have Harry Kane, and I think the people are very happy that our striker is Harry Kane“.
However, as Hytner reports, with Tottenham attempting to move on Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, the sale of Kane this summer looks incredibly unlikely as the Lilywhites have no other senior strikers available.
The 22-year-old was thrown into the first team towards the end of Tim Sherwood’s reign but it wasn’t until last season under Mauricio Pochettino that he really started to show what he is capable of on a regular basis.
Either way Levy will ensure any suitors will pay sky-high fees for Kane, so it would be best to know he’s the real deal before splashing the cash.
The Mirror report that West Ham pulled out of a deal to sign former QPR midfielder Joey Barton following protests from the club’s fans.
If the boss gets on the back of players, it has the effect of damaging morale because any individual in any job needs a little encouragement during periods where things aren’t going well, to inspire them to pull through and achieve a more positive result.
Kane didn’t score on the opening day of the season away at Manchester United but he put in a good performance as Spurs were unlucky to lose.
