Tottenham must feel at home at Wembley, Mauricio Pochettino says
In that light, Spurs probably need to play as many matches at Wembley as they can so they can get used to the stadium and the pitch size, which is larger than at White Hart Lane.
Spurs travel across London to Stamford Bridge in the Saturday evening kickoff, and Merson says he expects Chelsea to win by two clear goals.
“It’s always hard away from home in the Champions League and Monaco knew what they had to do”.
“We will play at Wembley”.
Pochettino was asked whether the decision to stay at Wembley for the Europa League was motivated by the desire to put things right at the national stadium before next season.
Tottenham will qualify for the Europa League if they avoid defeat in their final group game against CSKA Moscow at Wembley on December 7. “They are in very good form, they have a great manager and they have great players”, added Pochettino.
“I think it’s obvious and nobody can be disappointed or upset with that idea”, the Spurs manager said.
They’ve already won that many in just six attempts this time around, and sit on top.
Tottenham’s last game against Chelsea was marred by fighting between the teams.
But Spurs are out of the Champions League.
“Pochettino’s line-up reflected the hard balancing act between preserving Spurs’ European ambitions and prioritising their Premier League quest”, says the Times, which adds the manager could have been distracted by the challenge of playing Chelsea this weekend.
“That’s in the past”.
Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas were all selected for thematch day squad, despite being injury doubts last week, while Kurt Zouma completed another 90 minutes for the Chelsea Under-23s on Monday. It was hard to manage our emotions.
“The start to the game – 2-0 to us, the first 45 minutes – was ideal”.
With their 2-2 draw against Paris St Germain on Wednesday, the Gunners stretched their unbeaten record to 18 matches in all competitions. All is different, we need to go there and believe we can win. We must try to be competitive in two hard competitions but after five games in the Champions League we have lost three games. But you’ve got to realise, we’ve been without Harry Kane for quite a few games this season. It’s not important for me and Tottenham.
“The players know me by now”, Bradley said.
“Because next season if we need to play 19 games and cup games and European competitions there, I think we need to make Wembley our home”.
“It’s true we miss him a lot but we are happy”.
Left-back Danny Rose is out through suspension, while Toby Alderweireld has returned to first team training but he’s not yet ready for first team action.
Spurs are set to play all of their home games at Wembley next year while the White Hart Lane redevelopment continues.
