Tottenham news: Spurs invite greatest ever ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky to
The Great One has travelled the globe meeting dignitaries, athletes and other notable figures, and has taken on a variety of roles since his retirement from the National Hockey League, ranging from hosting Saturday Night Live to receiving the Order of Canada.
Tottenham Hotspur apologise for misspelling the name of Canadian ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky on a shirt.
Before kick-off at White Hart Lane, Gretzky, 54, a guest of the club’s for the evening, was presented a Spurs” shirt with “Gretsky’ wrongly printed on the back. Everyone was excited to see him, none more so than the Spurs brass, who presented him with his own custom Tottenham shirt.
Tottenham have since deleted the tweet they posted celebrating the occasion; fortunately, SportsCenter picked up a copy of the image from Spurs’ Snapchat. Unfortunately for what should be an honorable gesture, someone spelled his name wrong.
