Tough week stands between Golden State Warriors and National Basketball Association history
“That’s what you start striving for night in and night out”. Steph Curry scored 34 points for the Warriors, who improved to 11-0. This strategy isn’t about the maths as much as it’s about the intangible effect – stopping the flow of the Warriors offence and taking Curry out of a rhythm. “This is definitely a great way to start the season”, Curry told reporters in a deadpanned tone. The Nets played with high energy and intensity, and they almost came away with a victory against the best team in the game. He’s been better than that.
“I have never seen anyone in the league in my 23 years or whatever or even in college like this”. Also his passing is impeccable. Bogut dunked to get the Warriors rolling in overtime, and that was followed by a Livingston breakaway dunk, a Draymond Green layup and a Curry bucket and it was 105-97 with 2:05 left. He might not be the Jordan of 1995, but he’s just as hard to guard and his team poses just as many matchup problems.
Curry is so good now that teams are going to have to get creative when he gets hot and that could mean the birth of the Hack-A-Curry.
“Man, I’m a fan”, Lowry said following practice at San Francisco’s prestigious Olympic Club.
“I’m a fan of the game and I’m a fan of what he’s been able to do and how he’s been able to get better”.
“We’ve given ourselves a chance, and we know that we can compete at the highest level”.
Once the Warriors’ reserve group had stopped their free-fall – at least containing the mess they had made – Walton re-inserted the starters to resume their thrashing of the competition.
The big difference: Stephen reached the feat after 427 games, while it took Dell 1,083 games to hit one less. Curry closed out his night with an 11-point burst in just under 6 minutes.
While the guard play provided the highlights, the trench warfare in the frontcourt is where the Warriors ultimately turned the momentum of the game back in their favor.
The Warriors have now won 24 straight home games dating back to last season and also stay unbeaten at 14-0 in their Slate Alternate uniforms. He shot 15-for-25 on the night, including 8-for-13 from three-point range. “It’s tough. We feel like we could have had this one”.
“They just kept coming, kept playing, kept executing until they made plays”.
And these shots usually come in scoring bunches.
But Toronto remains a top 10 defensive team. Jack went a combined 1-8 from the field in the final quarter and overtime against the Curry/Livingston/Iguodala trio.
The Warriors played their worst game of the season and still managed to stay undefeated.
But even that may not be enough. As was the case against the Clippers this season, when Curry scored 13 points in five minutes in the fourth quarter, rallying the Warriors from a late deficit. If they weren’t simply resigned to their obvious fate against the champs, practically everyone seemed to believe that they’d be too exhausted – emotionally and physically – to find the energy to stay with the NBA’s juggernaut for more than even a quarter. The Golden State Warriors had a poor start to the game as they were trailing 36-21 by the end of the first quarter.
“That’s what team’s kind of do”, Casey said. “You fall asleep watching (Curry) play and then all at once boom he beats you with a zing pass. What we have to do is be fundamentally sound and we lost that (Sunday) night in the fourth quarter in Sacramento”.
“All of our fundamentals defensively (disappeared)”, he said. “We gave them easy shots”.
