Towles named starting QB
The announcement everyone saw coming was finally made Monday as Mark Stoops named Patrick Towles the Kentucky Wildcats’ starting quarterback for the 2015 season.
But in the end, Towles experience won out. “He’s making good decisions”.
Stoops said Towles benefited from the competition with redshirt freshman Drew Barker, who was an ESPN four-star prospect. He looked jumpy in the pocket during that swoon and new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has worked with him since spring to be more relaxed. “So I’m excited about going out and playing”. “Patrick played exceptional [during a scrimmage] on Saturday”. In 2014, the Wildcats were 5-7, 2-6 in the SEC. I’ve been there. Nothing’s going to surprise me. I’m not going to be complacent at all…. “I think it’s good for the team to (name) a starter”.
“I had a shot all spring, so it’s been going on pretty long”, Barker said Friday. Towles also ran for six touchdowns on the year.
With Towles returning at quarterback, and a few huge recruiting classes on campus, is this the year that Kentucky breaks through to a bowl game for the first time since 2010? And once again, he’s in charge. You’ve have to take a very proactive approach and the perspective of today, I have a lot of work to do.
