Toy Plane Plays Islamic Prayer Instead Of Flying Sounds
A toy fighter jet given as a Christmas gift is baffling a family by playing Islamic prayer calls instead of F-16 noises. “It sounds like an Arabic chanting, which is pretty unusual”, Thorpe says.
– I have been wanting to convert my 3 year old son to Islam for a long time and haven’t been able to motivate him to do so.
Nadeem Israr, president of an Islamic Society center in the area, said: ‘That’s very wrong.
When a Bellingham child opened a Christmas gift, something was “very, very wrong” with the sound the F-16 made, KING-TV reported.
Other Amazon customers were also affected by the fault – but others have taken to the page to troll the toy. Amazon reviews point to several other confused and unhappy consumers.
It was advertised as making realistic jet noises, but “we put the batteries in and didn’t get what we expected”, Thorpe tells KING 5.
Reviews online include Bill Ryan’s from December 27: “Plane has weird middle Eastern chanting no jet noises”.
When the toy company responsible for selling the toy was contacted by this family, they placed the blame for the mistake with the toy plane on the shoulders of its manufacturer.
Instead the toy began reciting an Islamic prayer said during the pilgrimage to Mecca. Islamophobia has increased to the point that US mosques are being attacked and GOP front-runner and 2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been using the idea of keeping Muslim immigrants out of the United States as a campaign platform.
“He just wants a plane”, he said. Thorpe now hopes they’ll refund their buy so he can still get his nephew the correct toy plane he wanted for Christmas.
