Toyota Prius First Look: More efficient, more fun
The Japanese firm has become one of the top makers of hybrid cars and the first to enter the market with the launching of its first Prius in 1997. The unveiling of the next-generation Prius marked an extravagant world premiere of the vehicle which was spectacularly hoisted above a crowd outside a Las Vegas hotel.
Toyota Prius’ interior is created to provide comfort and functionality with wrap-around dash design, comfortable seats, easy controls and improved visibility.
The new Prius is still a hatchback, but it’s now on a new, larger platform, called Toyota’s New Global Architecture, which should allow a little more room for people and cargo.
Toyota will release the 2016 Prius in Japan by the end of the year. If that is true, we could be looking at 60mpg with the Eco Prius. Because the fourth-generation Prius is larger than the model it replaces, the new cabin should prove roomier as a result.
The only difference between the two is that the Prius is built as a hybrid vehicle while the Mirai runs on the FCEV technology.
The 2016 Prius has a new design which is evident from its prominent rear spoiler and attention-grabbing new headlights. On Tuesday, Toyota revealed the 2016 Toyota Prius that is now 10 percent better in terms of fuel-saving features, according to Ars Technica. “It offers a new perspective of what a hybrid can be”.
Toyota hasn’t announced pricing, but we expect that will be announced, as well as information about the updates to the hybrid system, the engine and fuel economy, when we get closer to the Prius’ on-sale date, said to be in early 2016.
The new Prius has a host of safety equipment which include systems like lane departure alert, pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beam and the Europe-exclusive road sign assist.
