Toyota RAV4 to be built in Cambridge, Ont.

Toyota’s Woodstock plant also manufactures the RAV4, while the company’s third Ontario plant, Cambridge South, manufactures two Lexus models: the RX 350 and RX 450h. “We forecast that the segment will continue to demonstrate strong growth with the RAV4 being a major player”.
An announcement from Toyota this morning says the sports utility vehicle will be made in Cambridge starting in 2019 to replace the Corolla – Corolla production is moving down to Mexico.
Toyota will funnel new investments into the Cambridge North Plant to ready it for future RAV4 production as demand for the compact crossover grows.
Lentz added that “producing additional RAV4s, a more upscale, more complex, higher content vehicle, fits well with TMMC’s well-earned reputation for quality”.
The company’s Woodstock plant will continue to produce RAV4 vehicles. This will include the addition of Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), an innovative and integrated approach to building vehicles which involves new production equipment and processes.
“We’re investing for the long term”, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada president Brian Krinock said in an interview Tuesday.
“This investment will revitalize our plant and create the foundation for our future success”, Mr. Krinock said in a statement.
