Trailer For David O. Russell’s ‘Joy’ Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper should probably just have sex already, because that’s clearly what the world wants.
Are you on board with this one? Russell’s shortest film title ever, but it’s certainly his biggest project when it comes to scope and ambition.
Given how Lawrence and Cooper’s first two films with Russell played out, it’s a safe bet that “Joy” will be among the whispers during awards season next year. I’d prefer to have Jennifer Lawrence for myself, but anything is preferable to America’s sweetheart dating the Coldplay guy. The man should be in prison.
The story has all kinds of ups and downs with love and lost love, starting and trying to raise a family, as well as visions of Joy’s imagination that help her get through some of the more trying times!
To create the character, Russell was inspired by real-life mogul Joy Mangano-inventor and founder of Ingenious Designs-as well as the personal female influences of his youth, including his mother and her circle of friends.
Yet that’s exactly what’s on tap for the third film pairing up star Jennifer Lawrence with Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle). Translation: “Joy has all your favorite actors, acting”. Russell + a raucous Rolling Stones soundtrack couldn’t give me a huge boner for.
“Joy” opens in theaters December 25, 2015.
