Transfer Bans Will Be Lifted – Zidane
Three of Zinedine Zidane’s four football-playing sons will be left out of Real Madrid’s plans for the weekend, as the club reels from the transfer market ban handed down by Fifa.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid can still sign players in the current transfer window, but then won’t be able to register any new players until after the 2016-17 season.
Atletico were fined 900,000 Swiss francs (£622,000), while Real were told to pay 360,000 (£249,000). Barca’s appeal failed and they were eventually banned from registering players during the January 2015 and summer 2015 windows. Barcelona served the same punishment for the same offense, with their year-long transfer ban having come to an end this month.
They can negotiate deals to bring back players that are on loan to other clubs if there is no financial compensation involved, and they can also sell players if wanted.
“We believe that the penalty imposed is disproportionate, out of place and is an excessive punishment for both clubs based on their behavior and the circumstances of each case”, the league said.
Barcelona were given the same penalty in April 2014 for also breaching rules on the transfer of under-18 players.
Spanish sports paper Marca lead with the headline “Uncertain” with an image of director general Jose Angel Sanchez who branded FIFA’s decision to hand out the ban as “absolutely unjustified”.
However, both teams were quick to launch an appeal against the sanctions.
Here is a look at players who could be affected by the transfer ban. Rival Atletico Madrid has been banned for the same reasons. All transfers need the approval of a special Federation Internationale de Football Association committee.
With regards to players older than 12 years of age and younger than 18, has always complied with FIFA regulation requesting that the RFEF process (as they did) the corresponding authorisation from the FIFA Players’ Status Committee.
Atletico have already signed Augusto Fernandez from Celta Vigo during the current transfer window, while fellow midfielder Matias Kranevitter has also been added to coach Diego Simeone’s squad following his loan spell at River Plate.
