Transfer: Juventus seal €90m deal for Higuain
Gonzalo Higuain’s arrival to Turin, could meanwhile, add fresh impetus to two-time winners Juventus’ ambition of winning the Uefa Champions League.
Supporters were in fine voice to greet last season’s Serie A top scorer as he touched down before heading to Juve’s medical centre to complete final check-ups.
The Argentine worldwide, who was born in Brest in France in 1987, has joined the Italian champions on a five-year contract.
The logical conclusion that can be drawn from Higuain’s transfer is that the deal has been sanctioned by the astronomical fee offered by Man United to Juventus for Pogba.
Higuaín’s transfer was confirmed on the official Serie A website.
Higuain, who also reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, joined Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013 and had two years remaining on his contract in Naples.
The deal will become the third largest in history, bettered only by Gareth Bale’s £85 million move to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80 million switch to the same club.
But for the club s film-producing owner De Laurentiis, it was business as usual.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says transfer fees are remarkable following Juventus’ move for Gonzalo Higuain. Players change teams more often, to make maybe more money. You just don’t see, or even expect, players remaining with one club for the entirety of their careers, regardless of sport.
The Argentina striker, enjoyed a spectacular season with Napoli previous year, scoring 36 times.
Napoli already had their sights set on Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, although Polish global Arkadiusz Milik (Ajax) is tipped as a more realistic replacement for Higuain.
