Transformers: The Last Knight
Yes, they have turned “Blenheim Palace”, the early seventeen hundreds castle which was the birthplace of the WWII hero, into a recreation of Hitler’s main headquarters, with large Swastika flags and reportedly SS soldiers on the grounds.
Tony Hayes of Veterans Association UK added that he thought people who experienced the Second World War would be “appalled by this”. “And Churchill would be smiling about Last Knight”, he told the BBC on Friday. Additionally, Nazi flags have been used for film productions in Woodstock in the past.
As Blenheim Palace was the birthplace of Winston Churchill, the location for the filming caused outrage among United Kingdom veteran and patriotic organizations.
As well as the giant swastika flags, the set also features World War II-era German military equipment and SS stormtroopers.
But the news is not going over so smoothly with veterans in the United Kingdom, who are expressing outrage at Tinseltown’s use of the historic property, calling it appalling and “disrespectful”.
The UK’s Sun posted images of Churchill’s birth home, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, with Nazi banners, angering local residents and veterans (see below).
“People have not been fortunate enough to read the script and they don’t know that Churchill in this movie is a big hero”, Bay said.
It is now owned by Jamie Spencer-Churchill, a distant cousin of the former Prime Minister and 12th Duke of Marlborough in the British peerage system.
The movie, directed by Michael Bay is expected to hit cinemas next year. Anthony Hopkins – another knight of the realm, like Churchill – joins the cast.
While Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and Stanley Tucci are set to return, The Last Knight is also said to include King Arthur and Merlin and now.Nazis and Hitler.
