Transgender woman killed after being run over multiple times

The attackers have yet to be identified and it’s not yet clear who she was with that evening.

Tamara Dominguez, 32, died near a Kansas City church parking lot at around 3am Saturday morning.

Friends believe a Kansas City woman’s death may be the result of a hate crime.

The parking lot where Tamara was killed is quickly filling up with flowers, notes, and candles as family and friends leave memorial gifts as they attempt to come to grips with her tragic death.

Friends of Dominguez said they couldn’t believe someone could be so vicious and heartless.

The roommate remarked, “I don’t think people have their mind open, they’re just close-minded”.

Rendon said, “He doesn’t know she has family”.

Police responded to an area near Independence Avenue and Spruce Avenue just before 3 a.m. on Saturday upon reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

“We understand that maybe they were arguing, but it’s not fair for what he did. Nobody has the right to kill someone”, Rendon said. “We are not here to judge nobody, and he hopes that person really feels bad for what he did”. Police are searching for clues to the identity of the driver and the SUV. At least 12 other trans women have been murdered in the U.S. this year.

‘He doesn’t know she has family. “She had her nephews, brothers, and sisters that person didn’t think about what he did”, Rendon said.

As the issue attracts attention for the first time – with Caitlyn Jenner giving over her blog earlier this week to talk about “the number of murders of transgender women of colour” – Barack Obama has been urged to act.

Family members are trying to raise money for Dominguez’s funeral service and also send her body to her family in Mexico.
