Travelers Named a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality
Nissan earned a flawless score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index for the third year in a row for its LGBT-inclusive policies and commitment to the community. Denny’s, the diner chain headquartered in Spartanburg, scored 75 percent.
Harris Corporation, Eastman Kodak Company, Xerox Corporation and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield are among the companies that received flawless scores in the 2016 Corporate Equality Index. None of those were in SC. The airline offers several programs that promote LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) inclusion and awareness, and it sponsors internal business resource groups that celebrate employees’ cultural differences, cultivate diverse talent and contribute to the company’s performance.
Businesses that achieve a rating of 100 percent in this report are recognized as “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” and are welcome to use this distinction in their recruitment and marketing efforts.
Companies are rated on five areas: non-discrimination policies, employee benefits, LGBT diversity efforts, public commitment to equality and responsible citizenship.
The task force will work to develop legislation and other initiatives to ensure that transgender people have equal access and treatment under the law.
The foundation releases an annual Corporate Equality Index report that assesses LGBT inclusion in more than 850 companies and law firms nationwide.
Travelers announced that it has earned a ideal score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), and has also been named to the organization’s list of Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.
The CEI is widely respected as one of the biggest and most authoritative rankings of the business world in relation to LGBT diversity and inclusion policies and practices.

The company also has seven employee resource groups (ERGs) that are all inclusive and are a resource to the company for recruitment, retention, employee engagement, innovation and community partnerships. Ten Colorado-based companies were among the 851 from across the nation that responded to the HRC survey.
