Trinity Friends plans Thanksgiving dinner
By serving 343 meals in 2015, the New Market United Methodist Church provided food, fellowship and a fantastic Christmas for people in Montgomery County during its annual Thanksgiving meal. All are invited to attend the free dinner, especially those who might be alone for the holiday.
The Thanksgiving Day community dinner will be held from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, in the basement of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Westby. Coffee is offered free, and pizza and soft drinks are available for a small charge.
“We have many volunteers other than church members on Thanksgiving Day as well as on Wednesday afternoon when we begin preparations”.
An interfaith Thanksgiving event is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2950 Bilter Road in Aurora.
The Center seeks donations to help offset the cost of renting equipment, as well as homemade desserts to serve to guests. Monetary donations are also given by the church and the community. She contacted her church for permission to use the kitchen facilities and called upon family, friends and local citizens to assist. The time of Thanksgiving and praise will be at Trinity Reformed Church. Deliveries and pick up will be ready by noon on Thanksgiving Day. Call the Rock Rapids chamber at 472-3456 or First Reformed Church at 472-3729 by Friday, November 18th.
