Trio of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter align together this weekend
If you’re into numbers, you’ll find that the 9% per cent illuminated Moon will be less than one degree from Venus and about 6 degrees from the second-brightest planet, Jupiter. They said that the view will be spectacular in the sky and might offer a divine view in the sky.
The sight of the close-knit trio comes days after the July 1 highly- anticipated meeting of Venus and Jupiter, with the two planets looking as if they were hanging right next to each other in the sky.
The planets have been gradually having closer to each other in excess of the previous few weeks.
Venus is the second planet from Sun in our solar system and is located 77 million km from the Earth while Jupiter being the largest planet and fifth from the Sun is located 909 million km from Earth.
Friday’s moon will be a crescent moon and these planets will be on either side of the moon.
The Ramadan crescent Moon will be seen as a small silver line next to Jupiter, while Venus, which is brighter than Jupiter but smaller in size, will appear brightest of all as it is closer to the Sunday.
Over the month, many people around the world have been throwing “conjunction parties”, and putting their photos online. “So although conjunctions are not rare, the event is handsome and scenic, and a great opportunity for photographers to explore creative angles”, Lim told the Straits Times of Singapore.
From wine tasting to hiking, there’s plenty to do this July 17 weekend.
