TripAdvisor list names 7 Hawaii beaches among best in United States for 2016

Woolacombe beach in Devon has been named as the best beach in the United Kingdom for the second year in a row.

The top three beaches were Siesta Beach, Florida, Lanikai Beach, Hawaii, and number one was Clearwater Beach, Florida. The beach at Wai’anapanapa State Park on Maui is No. 5 in the country followed by Kaanapali Beach, also on the Valley Isle.

Florida topped Hawaii’s presence with 10 beaches on the list.

TripAdvisor included two Pinellas County beaches in its list of winners of the Travelers Choice awards for beaches announced February 17.

“In between frolicking in the surf and sunbathing, travelers can stroll along the Beach Walk Promenade or check out the lively scene on Pier 60, ” the media release said.

“This honour comes as no surprise to local people and the millions of others from across the planet who’ve visited the beauty spot over the years, but it does help to further raise the profile of a truly world class attraction that’s right on our doorstep”. “It really does validate what we already know – that our beaches are fabulous”.

Wales had four beaches in the top 30 including Rhossili Bay, Barafundle in Stackpole, Barmouth Beach and Castle Beach in Tenby. Once a beach or destination is ranked No. 1 on Dr. Beach’s top lists, it can’t win it again.

The list was compiled based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period.
