Tripping to macOS 10.13 High Sierra
Here’s an early look at what’s next.
“Apple’s MacOS Sierra is being “perfected” and will be called macOS High Sierra, the Cupertino giant announced at the Worldwide Developers” Conference.
If you really want to try out the macOS 10.13 High Sierra Developer Preview, and you’re not now enrolled in Apple’s Developer Program, then go to the Apple Developer Program enrollment webpage, which will show you everything you need to sign up.
Apple has now introduced a split-view when it comes to full-screen message composition. The most important of those is the replacement of the decades-old HFS filesystem with the brand new Apple filesystem (APFS). High Sierra lets developers create interactive and immersive virtual reality experience on the Mac for the very first time that will work with the HTC Vive and Unreal Engine for VR.
There are number of small changes in High Sierra. They show that Apple is serious about the Mac’s future and about making necessary upgrades for Mac users in graphics-intensive creative fields like animation and virtual reality. With High Sierra, APFS be the default on macOS.
For video, gaming, and more, Apple had a lot to announce. The previous desktop operating system was named macOS Sierra and the naming scheme is similar to what Microsoft has done with its Windows 10 Creators Update. Apple touts that Safari is the fastest and most robust browser until date, even faster than the most popular Chrome browser. The main benefits are better performance, support for more files, and improved security.
Apple was also keen to emphasize the editing tools that it has built into Photos, with a new feature called Curves particularly strongly pushed. The developer kits includes a Thunderbolt 3 enclosure, a AMD Radeon RX 580, and a USB-C hub. Also, if you edit one of your photos in another platform, those edits auto-sync back to your photo library. It’ll get to know how, and where, you use your Apple Watch and will provide you with notifications and complications accordingly. The watchOS 4 update focuses heavily on fitness, with Apple unveiling a fully redesigned Workouts app and updated Activity app with personalised monthly challenges and improvements to swimming workouts that track when a users stops or does a lap in the pool. That’s really meaningful for everyone using MacOS – it means faster backing up of files, moving of files, and much more.
Intelligent tracking protection. We’ll need more details on this, but Safari will now be more privacy conscious, blocking attempts to access cookies on your PC that it deems to be an invasion of privacy. It will support third-party extensions so you can export projects to non-Apple printing services, such as Animoto and Shutterfly.
