Troopers arrest Bucs tight end on DUI charge
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins following his arrest Friday morning for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. Seferian-Jenkins was booked for a DUI earlier today, and the team decided enough was enough. He then issued a post on Twitter. If Seferian-Jenkins could put it all together, he could be a pretty beastly offensive weapon.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Seferian-Jenkins was stopped while entering southbound Interstate 275 near State Road 60 for going 75 to 80 miles an hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone. “By the time we found out, we were into meetings this morning and we’ve been on the practice field”.
It’s not Seferian-Jenkins’s first DUI. During his professional career, Seferian-Jenkins has a total of 45 receptions, 603 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The home opener for the Bucs is scheduled for this Sunday, Sept. 25 at 4:05 p.m. against the Los Angeles Rams.
“Not me, I’m not that f-ked up”, Seferian-Jenkins said with a laugh. If there is property damage involved, serious injury or death or the player had prior drug or alcohol-related misconduct, he could be subjected to harsher discipline.
The 23-year-old will now be eligible to the waiver-claims process. They’re likely to promote either Alan Cross or Dan Vitale, both rookies who are on the practice squad, though they’re more fullbacks than tight ends.
