Tropical Storm Ida Forecast To Move Northward
There are no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
Tropical Storm Ida is still out there, drifting east across the central Atlantic and away from the Caribbean.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm’s maximum sustained winds Thursday are 35 miles per hour (55 kph). RapidScat saw that Tropical Storm Dujuan’s strongest side was in the southeastern quadrant. A turn toward the north is expected by tonight, followed by a northwestward motion by Friday night, September 25.
Ida continues to remain somewhat disorganized and the storm’s intensity has deteriorated, according to satellite imagery.
As for intensity, the GFDL, which brings Ida to hurricane strength in 4 days, remains an outlier and is discounted as a reasonable solution.
A tropical disturbance now in the western Caribbean could move into the southern Gulf over the weekend.
The westerly wind shear has been working against Ida, but forecasters said that could lighten in the next few days.
