Trout MVP over Betts
Murphy’s transformation from decent everyday player to an MVP-caliber performer started in the latter part of 2015 and continued into 2016 with a monster season at age 31.
Chicago – While the Angels stumbled, Mike Trout soared. Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was voted the National League (NL) MVP.
The awards are nearly done; the prestige “Heisman” of baseball is the only one left undecided.
The 21-year-old Abreu was a combined 3-8 with a 3.72 ERA for two teams in Class A. The 20-year-old Guzman was a combined 3-4 with a 4.05 ERA with two rookie-level teams. (1982-83) as the only players to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in back-to-back seasons. When you cover a team over the course of a season, you see, firsthand, the impact a particular player has on his club. He had n OPS of.928 and also stole 30 bases. In addition to that he has been an All-Star in all five of those seasons.
Mike Trout picked up his second AL MVP honors following his 2014 and now 2016 performance. The Angels finished fourth in the AL West with 74 wins, which didn’t hurt his individual case in the end. I wasn’t attempting to make it easier for Betts to win, or conversely, for Trout to lose. Ortiz also received a second-place vote by George King of the New York Post.
Not surprisingly, within seconds, the camera inside the Trout home in New Jersey was turned off, the guys back in the NY studio had taken over and the reigning AL MVP was left to celebrate with his loved ones and his surging insides.
Considering that Betts does not yet have three full seasons in the big leagues, it’s quite possible he’ll improve across the board.
Trout was a runner-up to the Detroit Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera in both 2012 and 2013. He joins Cal Ripken Jr. This all led to Bryant being selected No. 2 overall by the Cubs in that summer’s draft. Nearly immediately after he debuted on April 17, 2015, the third baseman did just that. Furthermore, he hit one home run and drove in two runs in the Cubs failed postseason run. Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was third after he was the unanimous victor of the NL Rookie of the Year award on Monday.
Bryant was the unanimous NL Rookie of the Year after he hit.275 with 26 homers and 99 RBI last season.
Bryant shared the night with another young star in Trout, who received 19 first-place votes and 356 points to Betts’ nine first-place votes and 311 points.
On June 27 in Cincinnati, Bryant went 5-for-5 with six RBIs, became the first player in major-league history with three homers and two doubles in a game and set a franchise record with 16 total bases. Even if the Cubs don’t really admit it now, there were legitimate questions about Rizzo’s maturity and focus, the way it is with many young players. Trout might not have led the league in many categories, but he also did not play at a particularly hitter-friendly park. Not to mention, he managed to achieve those accomplishments in spite of his stumbling team.
“It’s definitely the best game of my whole life”, Bryant said after the June 27 game.
