Truck driver killed in semi collision on I-43 in Dodge County
One man was killed in a crash along Interstate 41 Wednesday morning in Dodge County that involved two semitrailers.
The crash occurred north of Highway 49 in the Town of Lomira. Investigation shows that a semi with tank trailer hauling water tried to do a U-turn when it crashed into a semi with a box trailer.
The other semi driver, Anthony Cappello, 26, of Chicago, was uninjured in the crash, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday in a news release identifying the drivers.
Officials say a semi with a tank trailer and a semi with a box trailer collided around 2:15 a.m.
Names of the drivers are being withheld pending notification of family. No passengers were in either truck.
I-41 southbound remains closed as crews investigate the crash.
Crews from Dodge County, Fond du Lac County and Brownsville assisted at the scene.
The Dodge County sheriff’s department says a 26-year-old driver from Illinois was making an illegal U-turn through the median.
