Truck Rams into sidewalk in Jerusalem, kills four Israeli soldiers
Eitan Rod, a tour guide who was showing the soldiers around, said he opened fire with his own handgun after the truck careened through the group.
At least four people were killed and 15 injured when a truck drove into pedestrians in Jerusalem.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the attacker had been identified and “according to all the signs he was a supporter of the Islamic State” extremist group.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement a Palestinian was shot dead.
Inspector General of Israel Police Rooney al-Sheikh has described the situation as “very serious”, calling for large reinforcements to be dispatched to the area of the attack. The Palestinian leadership must condemn this attack and all others in the harshest terms possible, and make it clear to its youth that carrying out such acts of terror is a cause for severe punishment, not celebration.
Police confirmed the perpetrator was “neutralised” at the scene.
House Resolution 11 called on the USA – which abstained from the Security Council vote – to “oppose and veto future United Nations Security Council resolutions that seek to impose solutions to final status issues, or are one-sided and anti-Israel”.
“There was no sense in that reverse”, Leah Schreiber, a witness, told reporters.
“(Trump) is a man who started a campaign by smearing an entire group of people, in this case immigrants”, he said.
