Trump addresses Kansas killing as hate crime
Donald Trump has finally condemned the killing of two Indian men in a hate crime, and repeated attacks on Jewish community centres.
“It’s time what we stand united and condemn hate”.
While authorities are still piecing together exactly what happened – the FBI is investigating the incident as a hate crime – Purinton’s words and actions have reverberated half a world away, in India.
After Purinton got thrown out of the bar, he returned, and witness heard him yell “Get out of my country” as he shot the two men.
A U.S. media report claimed that at least one bystander said Purinton shouted “Get out of my country” before opening fire. A 24-year-old American named Ian Grillot who tried to defend the Indians received injuries in the firing.
Critics, not to mention thousands of foreign nationals and their families, have been eagerly waiting for some word, any word from the Trump administration acknowledging the crime as racially motivated.
Although a White House spokesman released a statement on Tuesday denouncing the Kansas shooting, the Kansas City Star called for Trump to address the attack personally. He also told the bartender, according to her 911 call, that he thought the two Indian men, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, were Iranians.
Jewish community centers and schools in at least 12 states reported getting bomb threats on Monday.
“As promised, I directed the Department of Defense to develop a plan to demolish and destroy ISIS – a network of lawless savages that have slaughtered Muslims and Christians, and men, women, and children of all faiths and beliefs”, Trump said.
After losing one son in a racist attack in the United States last week, Parvatha Vardhini is not ready to take risk by sending back another son to that country.
Purinton was working as a desktop support specialist for an information technology company in the Kansas City area.
The US President also said he will continue to tighten immigration rules.
“People are just emotionally distraught…”
The mother blamed the policies of US President Donald Trump for the killing of her son.
“I’ve been clear that the president must use this awesome platform to condemn this hateful act in no uncertain terms and send a powerful message that no American should be fearful in their own community”, the congressman said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
