Trump aide proposes to block possible Romney nomination
Conway told the New York Times that Trump was not angered by her decision to air concerns that Trump’s loyal supporters do not want the President-elect to select Romney.
While President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team huddle privately to pick their administration’s secretary of state, top adviser Kellyanne Conway on Sunday made a repeated, public case against deciding on Mitt Romney.
Two transition source told Morning Joe this morning that Trump is “furious” at Conway, a senior advisor to his government-in-waiting, for going “rogue” on television and arguing against Romney.
Conway added that a growing number of Trump supporters would see Romney’s appointment as a betrayal.
“Did he go intervene in Syria where they’re having a massive crisis, meaning, when I say intervene, I mean offer to help?”
Some Trump supporters have instead pushed for outspoken Rudy Giuliani – mayor of NY on September 11, 2001 – to fill the vacancy – despite scrutiny over business dealings that could pose conflicts of interest.
Conway argued that Romney “attacked [Trump’s] character”.

According to MSNBC, Trump was reportedly “furious” over Conway’s comments about the former MA governor. “Has he been helpful to Mr. Netanyahu?”, she said, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On Tuesday, Mr Trump is also expected to meet with Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, who supported him during the campaign.
Conway, responding to MSNBC via text early Monday, denied the report, saying, “It is all false”.
She began her attack on Romney shortly after he interviewed with Trump nine days ago about becoming the country’s top diplomat, reminding Americans about how Romney called Trump a “con man” and a “phony”. We don’t even know if Romney voted for Donald Trump.
“Donald was walking around asking everybody he could about who should be his secretary of state”.
In June, at a private summit in Park City, an at times emotional Romney lashed out at the slate of 2016 Republican presidential candidates for failing to stop Trump, saying what had become of the GOP was “breaking my heart”.
Romney and Giuliani also competed against each other in 2008 for the Republican nomination for president.
Despite Sunday’s comments, Conway, who may be in line to be the next White House press secretary, said she would “respect” Trump’s ultimate decision.
“It is sexist, she says she can have any job she wants and is thinking about taking a role inside and outside the campaign”, said show co-host Joe Scarborough, summing up Conway’s response the “Morning Joe” report.
