Trump and Cruz in the mother of all fights
Maybe Cruz is a “natural born” citizen and thus qualified to seek the presidency, and maybe he isn’t.
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz reportedly failed to disclose a second bank loan of $500,000 for his 2012 Senate campaign, according to a letter he sent to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Thursday, raising questions not only about transparency, but also about the narrative of his political career.
“As Cruz is saying anti-New York and trying to bring up a negative stereotype that is offensive, 9/11 is the exact opposite”, Cuomo said on MSNBC.
“Everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal, are pro-abortion, are pro-gay marriage, focus around money and the media”, Cruz said.
Aside from sounding caustic, some accused Cruz of being anti-Semitic after making those remarks. Ted Cruz for his attack on “New York values” – and with good reason.
In the new ad, Trump runs through his central campaign platforms, including his vows to strengthen the country’s borders, “fix” it’s health care system and the military, and take better care of veterans. I find myself, for once, in agreement with Donald Trump. You tell me that 33%, that 40% nationally, he didn’t just drill it down to a New Hampshire or an Iowa, where he’s leading by double digits, except against Cruz in Iowa where he’s much closer, but he’s at 27, 25.
“And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers”.
Houston attorney Newton Schwartz, who said he isn’t connected to any campaign, filed the lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court in Texas. He instead used the opportunity to jab at Democratic politicians in NY state.
“I think that whether you’re a Democrat or whether you’re Republican, that every New Yorker was upset about it. Because it was nuts!” the grocery store mogul and Republican donor told MSNBC on Friday afternoon.
“Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology”, Cruz said, “and I’m happy to apologize”. He noted that “New Yorkers may go about things differently” but their values are the same as the rest of America. “A total disgrace”, he told the crowd, many of whom nodded in agreement. Like I said, my friendly advice.
Wilson says, “I think there will be a tight battle between Cruz and Trump down to the wire in Iowa”.
But the Cruz comments, in addition to prompting Cuomo’s calls, sparked a day-long Twitter frenzy and lengthy cable news coverage and analysis of the talk.
