Trump and First Lady Meet With Harvey Survivors in Texas
The devastating hurricane made landfall in the state a week ago.
Another survivor noted that while many politicians are only interested in photo ops, Trump was “sincere”. He has raised almost $18 million for Hurricane Harvey relief.
Nearby, the city of Beaumont, Texas, was struggling to restore its drinking water.

After eight days when Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas, U.S. President Donald Trump visited Texas and Louisiana’s flood victims and relief workers.
The Governor then joined President Trump visiting Houston communities affected by Harvey, speaking with victims of the storm as they begin the recovery process. Texas, FEMA Administrator Brock Long said, could take years to rebuild. Special people, ‘ he added. “I want to congratulate everybody that’s worked so hard”. Try to do the best we can to keep everybody together.
On the same day as his visit to Texas, the White House announced that the Trump administration was making additional disaster assistance available to Texas. Yesterday we had water and today it’s all swept up and cleared up.
Many areas of Texas were still battling floodwaters from swollen rivers that were expected to last for a week or more. “Once we do start spending that money”, Watt said, “this is my plan”.
“We are signing a lot of documents to get money”, Trump said, according to Reuters, who noted that the president appeared at ease and eager to help.
CBS News also confirmed that Harris County – which is home to Houston and saw the worst flooding during Harvey – has the highest death toll with 30 Harvey-related deaths.

During his visit to the convention center, many people shouted things in support of the president such as “Thank you for coming Mr. President!” and “You rock!”
