Trump attacks New York Times report on Don McGahn’s cooperation with Mueller
McGahn has told the Special Counsel’s investigators about Trump’s responses to the Russian Federation investigation, the president’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, and attempts to pressure Attorney General Jeff Sessions to reassume control over the probe after he recused himself.
Giuliani however acknowledged that if the leak didn’t come from Mueller, it may have come from McGahn.
But there is some dispute about how much detail Trump’s lawyers have about what McGahn told Mueller.
“I am not going to be rushed into having him testify so that he gets trapped into perjury”, Giuliani said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press”.
But it said another motivation was Mr. McGahn’s fear that he could be placed in legal jeopardy because of decisions made in the White House that could be construed as obstruction of justice. That’s a lot of visiting and that’s just the bottom of what they know.
President Donald Trump tweeted his latest critique of special counsel Robert Mueller, calling the former FBI director who is overseeing the Russian Federation investigation “disgraced and discredited”. Dowd and Cobb believed that the cooperation would help prove that the president had done nothing wrong and bring a swifter end to the investigation. “It’s also evidence that he doesn’t really understand what happened back then”, Dean said.
The report said the president had wrongly believed that McGahn would act as his personal lawyer and exclusively defend his interests to investigators.
Dean tweeted Sunday that he doubts the president has “ANY IDEA what McGahn has told Mueller”. Steve Farley, Kelly Fryer and David Garcia have said they would withdraw those troops, while Ducey says their presence makes Arizona safer.
The Times report cited a dozen unnamed current and former White House officials and “others briefed on the matter”. Rather, it’s about writing a report that Congress might use to impeach the president.
Trump erroneously referred seven times to the border protection agency – CBP – as “CBC”, even though the teleprompter he was reading from listed the correct acronym.
White House counsel Donald McGahn does not believe that he implicated President Trump in any legal wrongdoing in extensive interviews he has given the special counsel, McGahn’s attorney told Trump’s legal team in recent days. “Trump does not like people doing the right thing”.
Presidents Nixon and Clinton, who were investigated for obstruction, tampered with witnesses, which is an illegal act.
In the conversation – which occurred over lunch at a table on the sidewalk outside the Washington steakhouse BLT – Cobb discussed the White House’s production of documents to Mueller’s office.
As he has done nearly daily on Twitter, Trump railed against the probe in the Oval Office interview with Reuters, repeatedly calling it a disgrace and arguing that Mueller and other members of his team were biased.
“No, it isn’t truth”, Giuliani replied.
