Trump backs Republican ACA replacement plan
“It’s not that this is open for negotiations”, Ryan said Tuesday at a press conference to tout the legislation, the American Health Care Act.
Additionally, the new plan comes with a system of tax credits that shifts benefits away from older and sicker people and towards younger and healthier people. The Obama administration said the ACA expanded healthcare coverage to millions more of citizens, while some grumble that their healthcare premiums have surged after the ACA was put in place. President Donald Trump has called it a “disaster”.
In what’s sure to be a major point of battle over the bill, the GOP plan would block federal payments to Planned Parenthood for a year.
However, the Republicans might face a bigger problem with the looming costs of the overhaul of the ACA that went on for nearly seven years. President Trump, who promised throughout his campaign to abolish Obamacare, is openly pumped, calling it “our wonderful new Healthcare Bill” in a recent tweet.
The bill marks a significant step toward fulfilling congressional Republicans’ vow to repeal and replace the ACA.
But four Republican senators have already said the plan does not adequately protect low-income people who received Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act. But just for the record, it takes a lot of pages to set up a healthcare system. Republicans say their solutions would make Medicaid more cost-efficient without punishing the poor and disabled, while spurring private insurers to offer attractive products for the estimated 20 million consumers in the market for individual policies.
On “CBS This Morning”, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi spoke out against the new bill despite the portions saved from Obamacare. Those with high income – like millionaires – can also receive government assistance.
The much-awaited repeal and replace plan pertaining to Obamacare has finally been disclosed. That includes a tax on medical devices and a 3.8 percent surtax on investment and other income of families earning over $250,000 a year. “Reform should not come at the cost of disruption in access to health care for our country’s most vulnerable and sickest individuals”.
The taxes from the 2010 health care law will be repealed.
Meanwhile, in the House of Representatives, members of the House Freedom Caucus have expressed skepticism towards the bill; this caucus consists of 30 Republicans. He has previously written about film for Bloody Disgusting, We Got This Covered, What Culture, and The Celebrity Cafe. “We really need to look at some amendments to make sure that we get rid of the taxes”.
These maps compare county-level estimates of premium tax credits consumers would receive under the Affordable Care Act in 2020 with what they’d receive under a draft replacement proposal being discussed by Republicans in Congress.
No Democrat on Capitol Hill is expected to vote for the new plan.
