Trump becoming Islamic State’s best recruiter: Hillary
As Democratic presidential contenders sparred at their last debate of the year, frontrunner Hillary Clinton suggested that her Republican rival Donald Trump’s rhetoric against Muslims was becoming a potent and powerful tool for ISIS. Or, to be more precise, she called him “ISIS’s best recruiter”, and said, “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists”.
Sanders discussed the data breach at the Democratic presidential debate Saturday night at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
After holding former President Bill Clinton behind-the-scenes and on the fundraising trail of her presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton announced Saturday night at a post-debate meet-and-greet that her husband will be hitting the campaign trail in January. “She lies like insane about everything”.
Obama acknowledged that his administration has not done enough to communicate with the public about its approach to defeating Islamic State, but seemed to pin some blame on a media “pursuing ratings” by portraying the militant group as a more direct threat to the USA than it is.
Clinton’s comments came after she was asked to respond to Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the US.
Sanders’s rejoinder was part of an ongoing effort to portray himself as the Democratic candidate best positioned to take on “the billionaire class” and to cast doubts about the relationship between the financial sector and Clinton, a former senator representing NY.
“But there have been no videos”, Stephanopoulos said.
“I don’t like that, I’m totally against that”, said Trump.
“I’ve been totally exonerated from that, I’ve had headlines exonerating me and saying ‘Trump was right, ‘” Trump said.
Trump lashed out at Clinton on ABC’s “This Week”, insisting that no such video exists and that news reporters have been unable to find one.
She agreed and said, “We should move on”. “With attitudes like yours, people won’t turn them in”. “But I’ll tell you what would have happened, if we had not joined with our European partners and our Arab partners to assist the people in Libya, you would be looking at Syria”. “I think all the campaign need to know what the status is”. “She just made this up in thin air”, Trump said. It was a sound bite. If ISIS was using Trump for recruitment videos, we would expect a frenzy of media coverage over it. Sanders’ campaign fired a worker involved in the breach but also used the controversy to raise money, sending an email to supporters that said the national party had placed “its thumb on the scales in support of Hillary Clinton’s campaign”. “You know, they make up things in the world of politics”.
